Loft Hatch Installation Fleet

Every loft hatch we install in Fleet has a 100mm insulated core that achieves a U-value of 0.35 W/m²K or better. Up to 30% of household heat can escape through a poorly sealed hatch, so upgrading to a properly insulated replacement makes a significant difference. The insulation is built into the hatch panel itself so it cannot sag, slip or degrade over time, and it is compatible with loft insulation materials like Knauf Earthwool and Superfoil multifoil that we frequently install alongside. For Fleet homes where the rest of the loft insulation is already in good condition, upgrading the hatch alone can still deliver a measurable improvement to the EPC rating, typically gaining 1 to 3 SAP points.

Insulation is only half the story. Even an insulated hatch will underperform if air can leak around the edges, and that is exactly what happens with most old hatches in Fleet homes. Our hatches use draught-proof compression seals around the full perimeter that create an airtight barrier when the hatch is closed. These seals have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years before they need replacing, and the insulation itself lasts 50 years or more. We offer both 30-minute and 60-minute fire-rated loft hatches for Fleet properties where additional fire protection is needed. Fire-rated hatches are often required when a loft conversion has been carried out in an adjoining property, when the loft is used for storage above a stairwell, or when building regulations specify fire resistance as part of a wider project. Fire-rated models cost around 40 to 60% more than standard insulated hatches, but they provide genuine peace of mind and ensure your property meets the relevant safety standards. We will advise you during your free survey whether a fire-rated hatch is recommended or required for your particular property.

Many older Fleet homes have loft hatches that are too small for comfortable access, particularly the compact hatches found in some 1960s and 1970s properties around Pondtail and Church Crookham. We can enlarge an existing opening or cut and frame a completely new one in a more convenient location. The price for a new hatch and ladder combination is typically £600 to £850, which includes the hatch, frame, seals, insulation and fitting. For a like-for-like replacement of an existing standard hatch, prices start from £250 to £350. Like-for-like replacements do not require building regulations approval.
