Roof Insulation Havant
Professional Roof Insulation in Havant
At Loft Insulation Specialists, we help Havant homeowners cut heating bills and stay warmer with professional roof insulation, fitted at rafter level to meet Part L building regulations. With over 40 years of experience across Hampshire, we know the borough’s roofs — the 1950s and 60s brick terraces of Leigh Park, the post-war estates around Waterlooville, and the 1960s bungalows and converted lofts of Emsworth, where heat escapes through an uninsulated roofline.
Heat rises, and up to 35% of your home’s warmth can be lost through the roof. We insulate between and over the rafters with 300mm Knauf Earthwool or slimline Superfoil to reach a 0.16 W/m²K U-value, keeping habitable lofts and room-in-roof spaces comfortable year-round and trimming around £200–£400 a year off bills.
We handle the full building control process for you, so there is nothing to arrange yourself. Every job starts with a free, no-obligation survey and a fixed-price quote — no high-pressure sales, no jargon, just straightforward advice.

How Havant homeowners benefit from Roof Insulation
At Loft Insulation Specialists, we fit roof insulation, one of the most effective upgrades available, on a Havant home. Heat rises, and without proper insulation at roof level much of the energy you pay for escapes straight through the structure. Much of the borough’s housing went up in the post-war decades — the 1950s and 60s brick terraces of Leigh Park, the suburban estates around Waterlooville, and the 1960s bungalows and converted lofts of Emsworth — so plenty of these roofs were built to energy standards now well out of date. Whether you have a standard pitched roof, a flat-roofed 1970s property of the Warren Park type, or a room-in-roof conversion, we insulate between and over the rafters with Knauf Earthwool or Superfoil multifoil to suit the build, targeting a 0.16 W/m²K U-value that meets Part L of the Building Regulations. We don’t fit spray foam — Knauf Earthwool and Superfoil are proven, lender-safe and straightforward to inspect. On cold-roof constructions we keep a 25mm ventilation gap at the eaves to stop condensation, which matters on the damp, exposed harbour fringe around Hayling Island, Langstone and Emsworth. We’ll recommend the right material and depth after a proper look at your roof.
Why Havant Homes Need Roof Insulation
Heat rises, and up to 35% of a home’s warmth slips out through a roof that was never insulated to modern levels. The borough’s housing more than doubled in the twenty years after 1945, leaving Havant with a post-war brick stock whose rooflines were specified long before today’s thermal targets. Set between Langstone and Chichester Harbours, these homes also face a damp maritime climate, so bringing the roof up to standard typically trims around £200 to £400 a year from heating bills.
Knauf Earthwool Mineral Wool Insulation
For most properties across the borough, mineral wool is the natural starting point. We lay Knauf Earthwool between and over the rafters at 300mm — well clear of the 270mm government minimum — to reach a 0.16 W/m²K U-value. It is non-combustible, dampens sound, and holds its shape for decades. On the conventional pitched-roof terraces and bungalows that fill many Havant streets, Earthwool is usually the most cost-effective answer, with a typical fitted price of £900 to £1,200.
Superfoil Reflective Multifoil Insulation
When the rafters are shallow, or you want to keep the loft free for storage or a future room-in-roof, Superfoil multifoil gives similar protection in a far slimmer build-up. Fixed across the rafters, it reflects radiant heat back into the room rather than simply slowing its escape. That suits the area’s many single-storey bungalows, with their large roof area, and the loft conversions common on the borough’s later estates. Superfoil is usually priced between £1,200 and £1,800 installed.
Building Regulations and Certification
Roof insulation in Havant has to satisfy Part L of the Building Regulations, the standard that governs heat loss through the structure. We install to a 0.16 W/m²K U-value and take care of the full building-control notification ourselves, so there is no paperwork for you to chase. On cold-roof builds we leave a 25mm ventilation gap at the eaves to keep air moving and stop condensation forming on this damp, harbour-edged coast. Documented compliance also counts when the time comes to sell.
Warranties and Long-Term Performance
Knauf Earthwool and Superfoil both carry manufacturer warranties, and we back our installation work for 10 to 25 years depending on the material. Once it is fitted correctly, the insulation performs maintenance-free for decades, so the £200 to £400 a year a typical Havant household saves keeps mounting long after we finish. We begin every project with a free, no-obligation survey and a fixed-price quote — no high-pressure selling and no jargon.

Frequently asked questions
Take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions regarding our Roof Insulation services in Havant.
What roof insulation do you install in Havant?
We install Knauf Earthwool mineral wool and Superfoil multifoil insulation. Earthwool is fitted to 300mm depth between and over rafters, with 25mm kept clear at the eaves for airflow. Superfoil offers high thermal performance in a thinner profile. The right choice depends on your roof type, available space and budget.
How much does it cost?
Superfoil installations typically cost £1,200 to £1,800, while Knauf Earthwool installations range from £900 to £1,200. We provide a fixed quote after surveying your property, with no obligation to proceed.
Are building regulations needed?
Roof insulation work needs to be notified under building regulations. We handle this notification on your behalf as part of the installation, dealing with building control directly so the work is properly documented and compliant with Part L requirements.
What U-value is achieved?
Our roof insulation installations target a U-value of 0.16 W/m²K, which meets the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations. This level of thermal performance significantly reduces heat loss through the roof and helps keep heating costs down.
Does Havant's coastal climate affect performance?
Both products work well in coastal areas. We ensure proper ventilation during installation.

Havant (/ˈhævənt/ HAV-ənt) is a town in the south-east corner of Hampshire, England. Nearby places include Portsmouth to the south-west, Southampton to the west, Waterlooville to north, Chichester to the east and Hayling Island to the south. The wider borough comprises the town (45,826), the resort of Hayling Island, the town of Waterlooville, and the town of Emsworth. Housing and population more than doubled in the 20 years following World War II, a period of major conversion of land from agriculture and woodland to housing across the region following the incendiary bombing of Portsmouth and the Blitz.
The old centre of the town was a small Celtic settlement before Roman times and the town’s commerce, retired and commuter population swelled after World War II so as to be usually considered economically part of the Portsmouth conurbation.[citation needed]
